Guillermo Torres of the Newcastle House of Brews was right on target when he blanked the Linden Raiders 6-0, yielded 5 hits and totaled 1 walk and 5 strikeouts.
Speaking to SION reporters after the game, Torres said, "I had everything working today and I got some help from my defense, too. They saved my butt a few times."
In 2014 Torres has posted a record of 10 wins and 7 losses with a 3.89 ERA. He has appeared in 25 games and struck out 93 in 148 innings.

 | Tuesday, August 19th, 2014: Farley Takes Charge, Blanks San Antonio
Linden hurler Joel Farley put on quite a show today as he blitzed the San Antonio Rampage with a 3-0 shutout. He baffled them with fastballs and changeups, allowing 3 hits with 11 strikeouts and 1 walk to pick up the win.
The opposing manager told reporters after the game, "I think every time we were looking for a fastball, he threw a changeup and every time we were looking for a changeup, he threw a fastball."
In 23 starts this season, Farley has picked up 10 wins while suffering 9 losses. He has pitched 136 innings, allowed 145 hits, struck out 127 and posted a 4.43 ERA.

 | Monday, August 18th, 2014: Linden's Dean Injured
Medical officials from the Linden Raiders reported that the club's 23-year-old reliever, Fred Dean, suffered a ruptured ulnar collateral ligament in yesterday's matchup against the New York Moneymen while throwing a pitch. Dean is expected to miss 10 months of action.
To date this year Dean has won 2 and lost 1 with a 3.98 ERA, 2 saves and 34 strikeouts in 29 relief appearances.
