Nippon Baseball Ni-Gun League 01-13-2015 Home | | | Breaking News |  | Sunday, October 12th, 2014: Katsuyuki Matsuo Wins Best Bat Trophy The Western League Outstanding Hitter Award has been chosen for 2014 and the trophy was presented to the talented and hot-hitting Katsuyuki Matsuo.
In his fine season, he compiled a .333 batting average with 122 hits, 24 doubles, 5 triples and 12 home runs, along with 62 RBIs and 72 runs scored.
For being named the WL's top batter, Matsuo will be honored at the SION Baseball Writers awards banquet this weekend. |  | Sunday, October 12th, 2014: Takashi Sasaki Takes Best Bat Trophy Takashi Sasaki and his traveling hit parade made numerous stops all over the Eastern League this year. The ball was really flying off his bat as he put together a .341 batting average. Today he claimed the much-coveted 2014 Outstanding Hitter Award.
He hit his way to an award-winng season with these stats: 64 walks, .436 OBP, 124 hits, 3 home runs, 62 RBIs and 77 runs scored.
For being named the EL's #1 hitter Sasaki will be honored at the SION Baseball Writers awards banquet this weekend. |  | Saturday, October 11th, 2014: Western League Top Hurler Announced The Western League announced the winner of the 2014 Outstanding Pitcher Award. It went to relief ace Lorenzo Martínez of Tokyo for his outstanding work on the mound.
The talented Earls star went 12-9 with 0 saves and an ERA of 3.56, while giving up 175 hits in 179.1 innings and striking out 137.
